Boss clones employee's voice with text-to-speech software, then creates a recording of them saying positive things about the job, employee reports her: ‘I was NOT okay with it’

Bosses do a lot of things that we, the employees, are not always happy with. As hard as you may try, you will never find a boss you 100% agree with. They will delegate tasks to you that you do not want to do, they will make decisions that you think are mistakes, and they will say things you do not want to hear. That is all a part of being a boss, unfortunately.

However, even bosses have lines that should never be crossed, and if they are crossed, something must be done about it.

The boss in the story below thought it was a good idea to use software that clones people's voices on her employee. She used an existing recording of the employee, cloned the voice, and then used a text-to-speech software to fake a recording of the employee saying positive things about their job.

Now, that is an action the boss did that is definitely out of line…

  • alii-b I know the feeling. Today, I discovered we had a Christmas video of me and my team ai generated using an existing video. I shut that down quick, because although it starts with just one Christmas video, next they use my likeness for things I don't consent to. Filming me is one thing because I can control what I'm in, but creating a video using my likeness with my consent is a whole new problem. It's violating as fuck.
